THE BALTIMORE SUN

Angels: Reggie Williams, who made his season debut by pinch running on Tuesday, singled in his first three at-bats last night -- his first major-league hits since 1995 -- and made a diving catch in left field.

Indians: Shortstop Omar Vizquel made two errors after making only three in 147 games.

Red Sox: Reliever Rich Garces, who's on the disabled list with bone chips in his elbow, was assigned to Fort Myers of the Gulf Coast League for a rehabilitation assignment.

Tigers: Justin Thompson (back stiffness) pitched well in the bullpen before last night's game, and will make tomorrow's start against Oakland as scheduled.

Yankees: Manager Joe Torre's career record moved above .500 (1,169-1,168) for the first time since he was 17-16 in 1977, his first season as manager of the Mets.
