Essex teen-ager dies after his car hits back of truck stopped at light

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A teen-ager died of injuries he suffered yesterday when he lost control of the car he was driving on Perring Parkway and crashed into the back of a truck that was stopped at a traffic signal, Baltimore County police said.

Police said Lance Edward Boblitz, 17, of the 300 block of Montrose Ave. in Essex was driving a 1990 Honda Civic south on Perring Parkway about 4 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the back of a 1985 Ford 350 truck.

The car went under the truck, pushing it several feet into the intersection, police said.

Boblitz, who suffered multiple injuries, was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he died about 6 p.m., police said.

The truck driver, whose name was unavailable, was not injured.

Police said driver error and Boblitz's failure to reduce speed contributed to the accident.
