Devil Rays: Tampa Bay remains on pace to break a 103-year-old major-league record for hit batsmen. The staff has hit 66 batters and are on track to finish with 90, five more than the record of 85 set by Pittsburgh in 1895. Rolando Arrojo has hit an AL-leading 14.

Mariners: Seattle's original lineup had Ken Griffey at designated hitter for the second straight day, but he was switched back to center field with Edgar Martinez the DH and Raul Ibanez at first base. Seattle has won 11 of its past 13 games in Detroit.

Tigers: Detroit has lost its past seven home games.

Yankees: New York has two four-game sweeps, seven three-game sweeps and six two-game sweeps, and also won two series shortened to one game.
