Aug. 17 last day to register to vote in primary

The Anne Arundel County Board of Supervisors of Elections has announced deadlines for the gubernatorial primary electionSept. 15.

The deadline for registering to vote in the primary is 9 p.m. Aug. 17. That is also the deadline for handicapped voters to be assigned to an alternate, barrier-free polling place. Sept. 8 is the deadline for turning in an absentee ballot application.

County Democratic panel sets rally for Aug. 28

The Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee is planning a rally from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 28 at the Stoney Creek Democratic Club, 8123 Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena.

Marcia Richard, chairwoman of the committee, said Democratic candidates for national, state, county and party offices will attend. Beer and hot dogs will be served.

Fleckenstein fund-raiser planned for Saturday

The Friends of Thomas Fleckenstein will hold a Summer Celebration in support of the District 31 House of Delegates candidate from 6 p.m. to 9: 30 p.m. Saturdayat the home of Jeff and Faye Jeffers, 7914 Lowtide Court, along Back Creek in Pasadena.

County Council candidate sets event at Kurtz's Beach

A fund-raiser for Brantley Marshall will be held at Kurtz's Beach from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 23.

Marshall, a Pasadena Democrat, is running for a District 3 County Council seat. Reservations: 410-437-1004.
