Camp update

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Starks watch: Rookie cornerback Duane Starks' holdout has reached two weeks. The Ravens and agent Drew Rosenhaus continue to negotiate, and the team is considering a variation on its five-year, $8.5 million offer. The Ravens already have offered a signing bonus of up to $3.9 million and a first-year salary of $630,000. But, since they doubt how effective Starks can be as a rookie with all the camp time he has missed, they may want to lower his first-year salary and bonus and shift that money to the back end of the deal.

Injury report: Tight end Eric Green (knee) and defensive end Michael McCrary (knee) returned to the afternoon session after missing the morning workout. Cornerbacks Donny Brady (knee) and Alfred Jackson (hamstring) did not practice.

Good afternoon: Third-year cornerback DeRon Jenkins had one of his better days, grabbing two interceptions.

Good day, big mistake: Receiver Stevie Anderson, who caught virtually every pass thrown his way during both practices, picked the wrong time to drop one. During the two-minute offense drill in the afternoon, he let a perfectly thrown touchdown pass from Eric Zeier bounce off his shoulder pads for an incompletion.

Quote: "You know something? Maybe I should [practice]. I'd take about $100,000 for four plays. That's what a lot of these guys make, anyway." -- Defensive line coach Jacob Burney, when asked in jest about filling in for Mike Frederick or Martin Chase, two players he has lost to injuries in the past week.
