Goucher College has received a $150,000 grant from the Teagle Foundation, a private foundation based in New York, to facilitate greater collaboration among Baltimore-area colleges by developing a shared transportation network.
The project is expected to allow the colleges to broaden opportunities for students by sharing resources with each other.
The institutions involved in the effort are Baltimore Hebrew University; the College of Notre Dame of Maryland; the Johns Hopkins University; Loyola College of Maryland; Maryland Institute, College of Art; Morgan State University; Towson University; University of Maryland, Baltimore County; and Villa Julie College.
"Baltimore is truly a center of educational excellence with the number of fine and very distinctive colleges and universites, and we are delighted that the Teagle Foundation recognized the potential of a collaborative effort," said Judy Jolley Mohraz, president of Goucher College.
This grant will enable the participating schools to integrate activities and services, Mohraz added.
