Royals update
The eternally rebuilding Royals are winding down a season-long 13-game homestand that has dropped them further within the toothless AL Central. Baseball's worst team at home, the Royals are 4-6 on the homestand and 19-36 for the season at Kauffman Stadium. Their bats had deserted them until they got 14 hits yesterday. Wednesday night's loss to Minnesota marked the third straight game they managed just four hits. The Royals are hitting .253 on the homestand . They are 4-42 when scoring three runs or fewer, 43-18 when scoring four runs or more. Jeff King was 3-for-5 yesterday after being in a 4-for-37 slide. Terry Pendleton was 6-for-29 in the homestand before yesterday's 3-for-3. Second baseman Jose Offerman extended his career-high hitting streak to 19 games yesterday. He is hitting .444 during the stretch.
