Applicants being sought for schools ethics panel

The Howard County Board of Education is seeking applicants for the county Public School System Ethics Panel. There is one vacancy, and a replacement will be appointed for a five-year term. Panel members must live in Howard County.

Those interested in serving or nominating someone must send a letter or resume no later than Aug. 14 to Michael E. Hickey, Superintendent, Howard County Public School System, 10910 Route 108, Ellicott City 21042.

Citizens Advisory Committee for schools has openings

The Citizens Advisory Committee to the Howard County Board of Education is seeking at-large members for the 1998-1999 school year.

The CAC is a group of citizens and representatives from local PTAs that serves as an adviser to the elected school board. The CAC sponsors educational programming for members and gives them opportunities to study and have input about curriculum, education policy, redistricting and budgets.

The committee meets at 7: 30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month in the board room at the Department of Education in Ellicott City. Members serve a two-year term.
