Howard P. Allen,72, chairman and chief executive officer of Southern California Edison from 1984 to 1990, died Monday of a heart attack in Rosemead, Calif.

Frank Xavier Altimari,69, a federal appeals court judge who wrote the ruling that affirmed the ban on begging in city subways and transit terminals, died in New York on Sunday of brain cancer.

Charles J. Boyle,47, a computer company founder who had headed the Irish Chamber of Commerce in the United States and last week was appointed president of the Greater Meriden Chamber of Commerce, died Sunday of a heart attack in Woodbridge, Conn.
