A toddler who fell into a swimming pool Tuesday at her home outside Frederick died yesterday at Johns Hopkins Hospital, said a spokesman for the Frederick County sheriff's office.

Detective Keith A. Bowerman said 16-month-old Analaurin Gabrielle Nielson, of the 7900 block of Old Seventh St., fell into the pool about 5 p.m. Tuesday and was taken by ambulance to Frederick Memorial Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition, then transferred by a private medical helicopter to Hopkins.

Bowerman said the girl died about noon yesterday, and that her death was being investigated as an accidental drowning.
