Gunman robs supermarket, flees in truck
A gunman robbed an Eldersburg supermarket early yesterday, then fled in a tan pickup truck driven by an accomplice, state police said.
No one was injured in the incident at 5: 45 a.m. at Food Lion in the 6300 block of Monroe Ave.
Police said the robber, who carried a pistol in his waistband, demanded money from a cashier and fled with an undisclosed amount.
The suspect was described as African-American, 25 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 160 pounds. He was hTC unshaven, had short black hair and wore a dark baseball cap, long-sleeved sweat shirt and sweat pants.
Investigators received no description of the accomplice. Police said the pickup was a 1980s model, although they were unable to identify the make. The truck was described as having a loud muffler and a utility tool box in its bed.
Fire
Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 12: 12 p.m. Monday to a brush fire on Obrecht Road at Sheldon Lane. Units were out 18 minutes.
