Larson added to BGE board of directors

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Charles R. Larson, who recently retired as superintendent of the Naval Academy, has been named to Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.'s board of directors, the company announced yesterday.

The announcement was made by BGE Chairman Christian H. Poindexter, a 1960 Naval Academy graduate whose brother John was Larson's roommate at the academy in 1957.

John Poindexter was President Reagan's national security adviser during the Iran-Contra scandal.

Christian Poindexter said in a statement that Larson was tapped for his "14 years in command at the highest levels of the military" and his "leadership, management and strategic planning experience."

Larson retired from the Navy last month after a 40-year career that was capped by his second tour as superintendent of the academy. He and his wife live in Annapolis, and Larson has said he plans to work as a consultant in the area or in Washington.

James T. Brady, former state economic development director, also was named to the BGE board yesterday, bringing its membership to 15, said BGE spokeswoman Kathleen Nolan.
