Stewart begins 1-year term as president of CPA group
M. Christine Stewart, CPA, president of Christine Stewart & Stewart Associates in Columbia, has been installed as president of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants Inc., a nonprofit organization representing the concerns of CPAs in the state.
Stewart serves on the organization's political action, budget and state legislation committees.
She is the third woman to serve as the group's president in its 97-year history. Her one-year term began July 1. Careerscope Inc., a nonprofit career development and job search organization, will offer a peer support group for people experiencing career or life changes, or anticipating changes in the near future.
Individual challenges and goals, barriers to change and techniques for effective action will be discussed.
The discussion will be confidential. The cost is $5 per week.
Howard chamber schedules business networking dinner
The Howard County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business after Business networking dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 28 at Red River BBQ & Grille, 6201 Columbia Crossing Circle, Columbia.
The cost is $10 for members, $20 for nonmembers.
Reservations are not necessary.
Chamber members are eligible for a cash drawing of $2,700.
Shirley D. Collier, president of Paragon Computer Services Inc., an Ellicott City-based systems integration and technology consulting firm, recently was appointed to the board of directors the Howard County Economic Development Authority. The authority is a private-public partnership providing economic development and advocacy services, including assistance with site selection, financing, employee recruitment and training, business start-up and development, provider referrals and permit/regulatory issues. Collier is a speaker, author and consultant on information technologies. She founded Paragon Computer Services in 1989.
Elizabeth Morton has been appointed vice president for Sales and Marketing, Health Services Division by RAI/Rapid in Jessup.
