Angels: Before getting swept by the A's in Anaheim on July 3-5 and losing both games this week, the Angels had won 14 of 15 against Oakland. Garret Anderson, who doubled twice, extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Athletics: Center fielder Ryan Christenson made his first start since the All-Star break. He had been sidelined by a strained left hamstring. Right-hander Tim Worrell, obtained by the A's on Sunday in a trade with Cleveland, made his Oakland debut in the eighth inning.

Devil Rays: Tampa Bay surpassed the 1.5 million mark in attendance. The crowd of 27,310 gave the expansion team a total of 1,509,263 for 47 home dates, an average of 32,111.
