Friends of Pam Beidle set birthday celebration

The Friends of Pam Beidle are putting on an All-American Birthday Celebration in honor of the 1st District County Council candidate's birthday on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.Beidle's birthday is Friday. The party will be held at the Benson Hammond House, 7101 Aviation Blvd. near Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Alternate polling places offered to the disabled

The Anne Arundel County Board of Supervisors of Elections has announced that Aug. 17 is the final date for assignment to an alternate polling place for voters with special needs whose polling place is not barrier-free. To request an application or to get more information, call 410-222-6600.

Boscher to address GOP Women of Anne Arundel

The Republican Women of Anne Arundel County will hold a dinner meeting at 6: 30 p.m. tomorrow at the Cantina D'Italia at Annapolis Harbor Center.

The cost is $18 and the speaker will be David Boscher, a House of Delegates candidate from District 33.

Owens fund-raiser set for La Fontaine Bleu

Janet S. Owens, Democratic candidate for county executive, will hold a fund-raiser July 23 at La Fontaine Bleu, 7514 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. A "special" reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a general reception from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets cost $40. There will be hors d'oeuvres and beverages and The Esquire Band will play. Fogleman to address Stony Creek Democrats

Stephan W. Fogleman, 29, of Severna Park, will be the guest speaker at the July 22 meeting of the Stony Creek Democratic Club on Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena. Fogleman, a Democrat running for the House of Delegates from District 31, will talk about improving Maryland's schools. His talk begins at 8 p.m.

Citizens for Steve Fogleman is sponsoring a summer fund-raiser at the candidate's home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 25. Tickets are $25, but teachers and children under 12 are admitted free. The Teachers Association for Anne Arundel County and the Maryland State Teachers Association have endorsed Fogleman.

Schneider reappointed to commission for women

Sheila Schneider, executive director of the Greater Women's Information Network, has been re-appointed to a third two-year term on the Anne Arundel County Commission for Women.

Since her first appointment in 1994, Schneider served as vice chair for three years and chaired the commission's legislative breakfast for four years. She also represents the commission on the Anne Arundel County Sexual Assault Crisis Center Advisory Board.

Schneider conducts crime-prevention workshops in the Washington/Baltimore region. Schneider, executive director of the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce, is a Democratic candidate for the House of Delegates in District 33.
