Columbia man is charged with assault, gun count

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A man carrying a gun was arrested by Howard County police this weekend in Harper's Choice.

Police said officers on foot patrol spotted a man standing outside his car in the 5500 block of Cedar Lane about 4 a.m. Sunday. The officers approached him and noticed he had a sawed-off shotgun, police said.

Police arrested Valentino Maurice Jackson, 31, of Columbia, and charged him with assault, reckless endangerment and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

According to court records, Jackson had argued earlier with a man at the Waverly Winds apartments and returned with a sawed-off shotgun.

Police officers Daniel Boehler and Mark Heron were in the area responding to a domestic disturbance when they happened upon the man and two other people in the parking lot of the apartments, according to court records.
