The Parren J. Mitchell Business Center is under construction at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Saratoga Street, but Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke wants to make sure it has a Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard address.

At a groundbreaking ceremony this week for the $6.1 million project in West Baltimore -- named in honor of the former 7th District congressman -- the mayor said his office would contact the U.S. Postal Service to make sure the building is given an address on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Schmoke said that will send a strong message to young people that society recognizes and values the contributions of African-Americans such as Mitchell and King.
