Man charged with attempted murder in attack

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A Baltimore man was accused of slitting his girlfriend's throat before slashing his own in an arrest warrant issued yesterday charging him with attempted murder, county police said.

The couple remained hospitalized yesterday, both expected to recover from their wounds from the Tuesday afternoon incident, which was watched by horrified neighbors near the woman's home in Odenton.

Authorities would not divulge details of their conditions.

Carolyn Ann Brown, 47, of the 1200 block of Queen Anne Ave. was being treated at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Enoch Allen Brown, 39, of the 3700 block of Seventh St. remained at Prince George's Hospital Center. He is charged in the warrants with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure, said Officer Deberah Mabe, a police spokeswoman.

"Officers are standing guard over him," she said.

Police said the woman was attacked shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday in the middle of the street in the 500 block of Bruce Ave. after she and a man had argued at her home.

She ran outside with him chasing her to the intersecting street, police said.

Some neighbors said they saw the attack and tried to get the knife from the man.

Brown slit his own throat after police arrived at the scene, authorities said.
