Officers named to posts at county bar association

Ellicott City lawyer Linda Sorg Ostovitz will become president of the Howard County Bar Association on July 1 for a one-year term.

Other association officers are the president-elect, David S. Harvis, a partner in Spahn, Harvis, Greenberg & Broida of Columbia; treasurer, Jeffrey A. Krew, partner in Reese and Carney, LLP, Columbia; and secretary, Janine L. Rice, a sole practitioner in Ellicott City.

The association's board of directors also includes members-at-large Betty S. Adams of Adams & Adams, Columbia; county District Judge Neil E. Axel; Assistant State's Attorney Keith M. Cave; Michael W. Davis, a partner in Ahlstrom & Davis, P.A., Columbia; Jo M. Glasco, who practices law in Columbia; and Daniel Vaccaro, an associate in the Columbia law office of Jonathan Scott Smith.

The 57-year-old association is a nonprofit, professional organization with more than 450 members.

People

Sandy Edwards of Columbia has been named vice president of corporate services and business development for Maryland Personal Physicians Inc., a primary-care network. He will be responsible for physician recruitment and contract negotiations, and will over see strategic and program planning, marketing and public relations. Edwards was formerly director of network development for the company. MPPI, founded in 1995 with a $14 million investment by Mercy Medical Center and a subsequent $10 million investment by St. Joseph Medical Center, includes 102 primary-care providers in 61 offices throughout Baltimore and Central Maryland.
