Ponne appointed president of Crestar lending arm
Crestar Community Development Corp. has appointed Peter J. Ponne president and chief operating officer. He was vice president and commercial accounts manager for the bank's Maryland region real estate finance group. A new subsidiary of Crestar Financial Corp., Crestar Community Development Corp. was created to focus on community development lending and investment opportunities for low- and moderate-income families and businesses.
The Arnold resident also is a commissioner of the Anne Arundel County Housing Authority. He holds a master's degree from the University of Baltimore and is active with Baltimore Neighborhood Housing Services. McCormick & Co., based in Sparks, has named J. Gregory Yawman assistant secretary and associate counsel, and Kathryn Q. Carolan corporate director of materials and logistics.
Yawman was senior attorney and assistant secretary for Crown Central Petroleum Corp. He received his law degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Carolan, a graduate of the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, most recently was production manager of McCormick's Hunt Valley plant.
Comcast appoints Hoffman to head human resources
Comcast Cablevision of Maryland appointed Suzanne Q. Hoffman as area director of human resources. She will oversee daily operation of the firm's personnel offices in Baltimore, Harford and Howard counties. She had been a personnel supervisor for Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Schwartz, Hampton join John Hancock agency
John Hancock Baltimore-Elton Agency said Mark Schwartz and Kim Hampton have joined the Lutherville office as marketing representatives.
Schwartz, a Howard County resident, will specialize in long-term health care, estate conservation and portfolio planning.
Hampton will arrange client interviews and provide financial goal recommendations, and service and maintain client accounts.

Quick is supervisor at Ellin & Tucker
Ellin & Tucker, regional certified public accountants and consultants, appointed Cynthia M. Quick as supervisor in its audit, accounting and consulting department.
The certified public accountant is a University of Baltimore graduate and a Baltimore resident.
Health care
Reimer vice president at Helix Health
Helix Health named Daniel Riemer vice president of marketing. He will be responsible for directing the marketing department, including marketing research and support, publications and corporate communication.
Before joining the integrated health system, he was vice president of the direct-marketing firm of Barton-Cotton in Baltimore. He is a Kenyon College graduate.
