County will hold sale of tax-delinquent properties
Carroll County will hold a sale of tax-delinquent real estate properties at 10 a.m. Friday in Room 300A of the County Office Building.
Delinquent taxes must be paid by 3: 30 p.m. Thursday or properties will be sold to the highest bidders for payment of charges due.
The County Office Building is at 225 N. Center St., Westminster.

Roads Operations Bureau announces week's repairs
The Carroll County Bureau of Roads Operations has announced roadwork this week around the county.

Deep milling and patching: Jasontown Road from Uniontown Road to the end of paving; Tyrone Road from Route 832 to Stone Road.
Ditch-line work: Keysville Road from Roop Road to Keysville Bruceville Road.
Pipe work: Buffalo Road from Route 26 to Sams Creek Road.
Road patching: Sullivan Road from Hahn Road to Sunshine Road.
Pipe installation, temporary road closure: Klees Mill Road from Cherrytree Lane to Nicholson Road.

Tipping fees to rise at Northern Landfill
Effective July 1, the county will increase tipping fees at the Northern Landfill from $45 per ton to $47 per ton.
All services will remain the same.
The landfill is on Route 140 east of Westminster. Hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

County water ranks second in tasting contest
Chesapeake Section AWWA (American Water Works Association) held its annual Water Tasting Contest at the spring meeting in Crofton on May 21.
Nine water utilities, including Carroll County's, entered samples in two categories: ground water and surface water.
Carroll placed second in the surface water category.
More than 50 attendees judged samples on appearance, odor, flavor and aftertaste.
