The County Commissioners recently held their recognition program for Carroll County government employees who marked anniversaries and exhibited outstanding performance last year.
Seven employees were honored with certificates of appreciation for serving as employee ombudsmen: Sandra Baber, Delores Blubaugh, Robert Farinholt, Lawrence Gesell, Dale Henderson, Kevin Stevens and Bryan Van Fossen.
Significant contributions to the citizens of the county were recognized. Award winners were Scott Campbell and Eric Silverman, Cost Savings Award; and Florence Kay Church, Julie Keefer, Kenneth Lentzner and Mary Leppo, employees of the year.
Six employees, nominated by their peers and chosen by the commissioners, received the Exceptional Service Award:
Delores Blubaugh, administrative assistant, Bureau of Building Construction, Department of Public Works; and Colleen Baumgartner, grants management analyst, Department of Management and Budget. They were recognized for their work with state granting agencies in procuring money for the Pleasant Valley infrastructure improvement and additional funds for well explorations and project engineering.
Barbara J. Bevergungen was honored for her professional and dedicated administration of the Office of Tourism, Department of Economic Development, and her promotion and marketing of the county.
Charles D. Singer, water treatment plant superintendent, Bureau of Utilities, Department of Public Works, was honored for his leadership during the summer drought to maintain the Freedom District Water Treatment Plant, which had to operate in excess of its hydraulic capacity, and for ensuring continuous operation of the plant and fire suppression for the area.
Susan G. Cronin, Bureau of Aging, Department of Citizen Services, was recognized for serving and supporting the county's senior citizens by obtaining medical benefits, helping seniors receive more than $600,000 in previously denied benefits, training a volunteer staff to provide full-time service to seniors, and for compassion and professionalism in performing her duties.
S. Denise Study, fiscal specialist, Bureau of Aging, Department of Citizen Services, was honored for maintaining financial records and executing fiscal procedures with the Bureau of Accounting, ensuring accuracy in disbursements and recordation for the Bureau of Aging, efficiency in providing administrative and fiscal support for the bureau, and showing exceptional organization and impeccable recordkeeping on a daily basis.
The commissioners praised the employees for their dedication and efforts on behalf of citizens.
Employees marking five-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25- and 30-year milestones with the county government also were recognized.
