Sinai WellBridge plans $2 million expansion

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Sinai WellBridge, a health and fitness center in Pikesville, will get a $2 million expansion by the end of the year.

The plan was announced yesterday by Sinai Health System. Sinai WellBridge is a joint venture of Sinai Health System, based at Sinai Hospital in Northwest Baltimore, and WellBridge Co., a unit of Mansanto Co. It opened in 1996.

In addition to regular fitness programs, Sinai WellBridge offers rehabilitation programs and therapy for conditions such as pulmonary diseases, Parkinson's disease, osteoporosis and arthritis.

The addition will add 9,000 square feet to the existing 57,000 square feet. It will produce a dedicated aerobics studio, a larger basketball court and a rock climbing area.

Of the $2 million project cost, more than $275,000 is budgeted for exercise equipment.

Sinai made another move in fitness earlier this year when it announced it would operate athletic training and fitness centers called Cal Ripken Jr. Sport Acceleration. The first of the centers opened recently in Columbia.
