More than 3,200 players are expected to participate in the 10th annual Hoop-It-Up street basketball tournament tomorrow and Sunday at Camden Yards.
Play begins at 9 a.m. tomorrowon 80 courts in parking areas between Oriole Park and the new Ravens stadium.
The tournament runs until 5 p.m. tomorrow and resumes at 9 a.m. Sunday with several division champions being crowned at 3 p.m.
A total of 800 three-on-three teams will compete in divisions determined by many factors, including age (starting at 8), gender, and height.
The best players will compete in the Top Gun division. More relaxed players can compete in the Weekend Warrior division -- also nicknamed the Couch Potato division.
The Top Gun champion in both men's and women's divisions will advance to eastern regionals in September, with a trip to the Hoop-It-Up world finals a month later at stake.
Spectators can participate free in tests of individual skills competitions. They include the 10-foot Slam Jam, the Jordan Experience men's 9-foot and women's 8-foot slam dunk, a three-point shootout, one-on-one hoop camp, and ultimate shootout competition.
Proceeds from team-entry fees of $108 ($120 for Top Gun division) will benefit local charities.
