Blue Jays update
The Blue Jays are trying to tighten their hold on third place in the AL East and keep the Orioles in their rearview mirror. They remained one game ahead with Wednesday's 10-inning victory over Florida. Toronto is 16-18 at home and 7-9 in one-run games. Its offense remains as punchless as last season, a .248 team average ranking last in the league. Former Bash Brother Jose Canseco is hitting just .229, but his two homers Wednesday gave him 19 on the season. He recently endured an 0-for-24 skid. Canseco is 6-for-34 (.176) lifetime against Mussina, but 5-for-8 (.625) with three homers against reliever Arthur Rhodes. Carlos Delgado's 19-game hitting streak ended Wednesday. Brady Anderson is just 2-for-26 (.077) against Guzman. Cal Ripken is 6-for-33 (.182) with one homer. On the flip side, shortstop Mike Bordick is 13-for-34 (.382) with seven RBIs. The Orioles get to visit their former closer, Randy Myers, who has 16 saves.
