Hot corner

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Quote: "I asked to be traded. Chuck Knoblauch, Randy Johnson, Matt Williams, they asked to be traded. People don't say bad things about them. They're labeled as winners. I'm labeled as a crybaby." -- Former Marlin Gary Sheffield, now with the Dodgers.

It's a fact: The Braves need three more wins for Bobby Cox to become the winningest manager in franchise history. Frank Selee, who managed the Boston Beaneaters from 1890 to 1901, holds the mark with 1,004 victories.

Who's hot: The Astros are 5-1 in interleague play this season after going 4-11 last year.

Who's not: Rangers left-hander Darren Oliver has allowed 12 runs and 17 hits over 11 2/3 innings in his last two outings.

On deck: The Phillies' Curt Schilling (5-7), who has lost his last four decisions, will go against Kevin Tapani (8-3) and the Cubs in Philadelphia tonight. Tapani tries to become the NL's second nine-game winner (after the Braves' Greg Maddux).
