Astros: Craig Biggio has hit in 31 of his past 39 games.
Braves: Manager Bobby Cox is planning a closer-by-committee TC setup for a few games to give Mark Wohlers a chance to break out of his slump with less pressure. Wohlers surrendered a run in the eighth inning and has given up six hits, seven earned runs and eight walks in 6 2/3 innings since coming off the disabled list May 24. John Smoltz, who has been on the disabled list for 2 1/2 weeks with a sore elbow, will make a three-inning rehabilitation start today for Double-A Greenville.
Cubs: Sammy Sosa went 0-for-3 to end his string of five straight games with a homer. It was only the second time this season Kerry Wood's strikeouts did not exceed his walks. He walked four and struck out two in his last loss, to the Dodgers on April 24.
Tigers: Outfielder Bip Roberts, on the disabled list since May 26 with a strained right hamstring, will begin a rehab assignment today at Triple-A Toledo.
Twins: Third basemen Ron Coomer was a late scratch because of a sore neck. Minnesota already was without Paul Molitor, who had a cortisone shot in his left shoulder after Monday's game and will be out at least until the weekend. Minnesota has gone seven games without an error, one short of its longest errorless string of the season.
