Woman's son charged with stabbing her at home day care center

A woman who operates a day care center in her Northwest Baltimore home was stabbed several times yesterday during an argument in her kitchen while several children under her supervision played unharmed in the basement. Police have charged her son in the stabbing.

Homicide Detective Homer Pennington said the victim, Evelyn Parham, 60, of the 3300 block of W. Rogers Ave. was in critical condition last night at Sinai Hospital after surgery for at least seven stab wounds to the head, chest and groin.

Pennington said the woman was in the kitchen of her home about 2: 30 p.m. and arguing with the suspect about money when she was stabbed with a butcher knife.

William Parham, 32, who resided with his mother, was charged with attempted murder and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. He was being held last night at the Central Booking and Intake Center.
