Man charged, held without bail in sexual assaults in Cockeysville Suspect arrested after gun returned to victim's home

A man accused of several sexual assaults in the Cockeysville area was arrested when he brought back a gun taken from the apartment of an assault victim, police said yesterday.

Steven Scott Carrow, 26, of the 1700 block of Yakona Road in Towson was arrested by detectives from the Cockeysville Precinct, said Baltimore County police spokesman Bill Toohey. He is charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of first-degree sexual assault, police said.

The most recent assault in the area occurred Tuesday, police said, when a man entered an apartment on Nutmeg Knoll Court, where a woman was asleep on the couch. He assaulted the woman and ordered her into her bedroom to look for a condom, according to arrest documents.

The woman took a gun from her dresser drawer. The man tackled her, took the gun, assaulted her again and fled, police said.

On Wednesday night, police officers began watching the area and saw a man enter the apartment on Nutmeg Knoll Court where the assault had occurred the night before, according to arrest documents. Carrow was arrested at the scene.

"When they went back [into the apartment], he had returned the gun," Toohey said. "He left it on the dining room table."

Carrow was being held without bail at the county detention center yesterday.
