The Arson Control Association of Maryland is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or indictment in connection with fires that destroyed a barn and damaged a house near Gamber on Sunday.
A motorist alerted authorities at 11: 30 p.m. Sunday that a two-story house at 4430 London Bridge Road near Liberty Reservoir was on fire.
About 50 firefighters from Gamber, Winfield, Reese and Westminster in Carroll County, along with companies from Lisbon and West Friendship in Howard County, fought the blaze for more than two hours. Damage to the wooden structure and contents was estimated at $50,000.
About 1 a.m. Sunday, a motorist alerted authorities that a barn near the Morgan Run Natural Environmental Area in the 300 block of Nicodemus Road was burning, the fire marshal's office said.
Both properties were vacant, and no one was injured in either incident, fire marshals said. The buildings are owned by the state Department of Natural Resources.

Gamber: Firefighters responded at 9: 46 a.m. Monday to a fire alarm in the 2300 block of Kays Mill Road. Units were out 16 minutes.
Gamber: Firefighters responded at 6: 12 a.m. Monday to a trash fire on Jim Bowers and East Nicodemus roads. Units were out one hour and 15 minutes.
Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 6: 36 p.m. Sunday to a fire ,, alarm in the 7500 block of Main St. Units were out 27 minutes.
Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 6: 38 a.m. Saturday to a truck fire in the 6700 block of Slacks Road. Units were out one hour.
