A 2-year-old Annapolis boy drowned yesterday in a pool at a Pasadena home he was visiting, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Brannon McCarthy was found at the bottom of the in-ground pool in the 100 block of Stonestep Court about 6 p.m. yesterday, said Anne Arundel County Police spokeswoman Lisa Ritter. The boy was rushed to North Arundel Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6: 40 p.m.

Ritter said the boy had been attending a soccer party at the home with his mother, Karen McCarthy. The drowning was apparently an accident, Ritter said.
