18 arrested in Severn after three-month drug investigation


Anne Arundel County police arrested 18 people Friday following a three-month street-level drug investigation of the Severn area .

While executing the arrest warrants, police seized a stolen handgun, $3,389, two vehicles and 41 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

Officers from the Western District Beat Officers Against Drug Trafficking Unit masqueraded as drug dealers and sold inert, nonnarcotic substances in place of actual drugs.

Sixteen of those arrested were charged with drug offenses, police said.

Two 17-year-olds were also arrested and charged on juvenile citations.
