'Parking Lot,' the sequel

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Anyone lucky enough to have seen "Heavy Metal Parking Lot," Jeff Krulik and John Heyn's classic 1986 video of rabid fans holding forth before a Judas Priest concert right here in Maryland, won't want to miss the team's long-awaited follow-up, "Neil Diamond Parking Lot," which will have its Baltimore premiere today at the Mansion Theater at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Special bonus: "Heavy Metal Parking Lot: The Lost Footage," outtakes from the first video.

To make this event even more poignant, it marks the end of an era for the Mansion: programmer Skizz Cyzyk will shutter the venue in order to pursue a film project this summer. When he returns in the fall, look for the Microcinefest at the Orpheum. In the meantime, give the Mansion a proper send-off by joining in a rousing chorus of "Song Sung Blue." Get those Bic lighters primed, people.

Bring your own food and drink -- and $2 to donate. The Mansion Theater is at 4201 York Road, at 42nd Street.
