3 men arrested on drug charges in 2 incidents over weekend


Three men were arrested on drug charges in two incidents over the weekend after investigators found marijuana plants in their homes, county police said.

Michael Lewis Cousins, 25, of the 1000 block of Lindalee Drive in Glen Burnie, was charged with drug manufacturing, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs with intent to distribute.

He was arrested at 7: 45 p.m. Friday after county narcotics detectives searched his home and found 50 marijuana plants and materials used to grow and package them, police said.

Eugene Shorter, 27, of the 1600 block of Wilkshire Drive in Crofton, and George Drakopulas, 29, of the first block of Scott's Cove Road in Edgewater, were arrested just after 8 a.m. Saturday when Western District Officers Stephen Taylor and David Zinn searched Shorter's house and found eight marijuana plants, seeds and several smoking devices, police said.

The men were charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, police said.

7 arrested on drug charges in Freetown Village

County police arrested seven people on drug charges and seized six vehicles last weekend in the Freetown Village as part of a crackdown on what officers called an open-air drug market in the neighborhood.

Police arrested Noel Portillo, 32, of the 7800 block of Windborn Drive in Glen Burnie; James Gregory Scott, 36, of the 8100 block of Escalon Ave. in Pasadena; Sean David Woodson, 19, of the 5500 block of Gloucester St. in Churchton; John David Royal, 44, of the 600 block of New Jersey Ave. in Glen Burnie; Marlene Christa Swallows, 33, of the 900 block of Desert Court Harbor in Pasadena; James Quirk, 21, of the 600 block of 227th St. in Pasadena; and Jason Bradley Poe, 23, of the 600 block of Powhatan Beach Road in Pasadena.
