Mariners: Ken Griffey entered the game 25-for-61 (.410) against Roger Clemens. During batting practice, Griffey hit a ball into the fifth deck of SkyDome, above the Hard Rock Cafe in right field.

Athletics: With Scott Spiezio's four-run shot, Oakland now has five grand slams this season.

White Sox: Manager Jerry Manuel said Wil Cordero missed Sunday's batting practice because of a "miscommunication." Cordero appar- ently thought hitting practice was optional.

Angels: Infielder Justin Baughman, who made his major-league debut Sunday, is the first rookie to play for Anaheim this season.

Tigers: Damion Easley has reached base safely in 23 straight games.

Indians: Dwight Gooden, trying to overcome arm problems and get back to the majors, had another rough outing in the minors. He was knocked out in the fifth inning while pitching for Triple-A Buffalo against Richmond in the International League. He has given up 16 earned runs in 16 innings for Cleveland's top farm club.
