4 food establishments closed temporarily after inspections


Four food-service establishments in Anne Arundel County were closed temporarily last month because of emergencies, according to county health officials.

All reopened within a day or two.

Angelo's Pizza Inc., 657 Deale Road in Deale, was closed April 21 because of an unsatisfactory water supply. It reopened the next day.

Gary's Grill, 553 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park, closed April 24 because of a minor fire. It reopened later that day.

The snack bar at Costco, 575 Ordnance Road in Glen Burnie, was closed April 29 because it was operating without the approval of the state and county health departments. It got the approvals and reopened the next day.

The Canopy, 8125 Ritchie Highway in Pasadena, was closed April 30 because of a minor fire. It reopened later that day.

County health inspectors visited 97 establishments from April 16 through April 30 and found 17 with critical food safety violations that were corrected.

Acme Bar and Grill, 163 Main St., Annapolis, had two violations, food not properly cooled and food not held at proper temperature. It is to be reinspected.

Twelve establishments were cited for not keeping food at proper temperature.

They were: El Toro Bravo, 50 West St. in Annapolis; Sandy's Subs and Stuff, 7300 Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena; Horn and Horn Buffet, 7315 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie; Morrison's Cafeteria, 171 Jennifer Road in Annapolis (reinspection needed); Eleven, 8930 Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena; Domino's Pizza, 8581 Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena; Ocean Chinese Restaurant, 8111 Fort Smallwood Road, Pasadena; Subway, 1334 E. Defense Highway in Gambrills (reinspection needed); Sue's Sub Shop, 1584 Annapolis Road in Odenton; Mamma's Southern Eatery Inc., 2645 B Old Annapolis Road in Hanover; Parthenon Restaurant, 907 Bay Ridge Road in Annapolis, (reinspection needed); and the Royal Farm store at 424 Sixth St. in Annapolis.

Four restaurants were cited for not keeping food cool enough.

They were: G&M; Restaurant, 804 N. Hammonds Ferry Road in Linthicum (reinspection needed); Restaurant Peninsule, 1534 Cedarhurst Road in Shadyside; Black Eyed Pea, 7939 S. Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie; and Pachanga Grill Inc., 8395 Piney Orchard Parkway in Odenton.
