An Ellicott City man has pleaded guilty to tax evasion for failing to report income from a Columbia electronics distribution company, the U.S. attorney's office announced Friday.
From 1991 through 1993, John P. Maktos Sr. of Kings Cup Court failed to report $246,000 of income from his job as a sales representative for Pegasus Electronics Inc., U.S. Attorney Lynne Battaglia said.
The total tax on the unreported income would have been $34,895.
Maktos, 50, could be sentenced to a maximum of five years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine, Battaglia said.
