Two Westminster men and a Reisterstown woman were sentenced yesterday in Carroll County Circuit Court on drug charges .
Michael A. Watson, 38, of East Green Street pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced to one year in the Carroll County Detention Center.
According to court records, Watson gave crack cocaine in October to a state police informant, telling the informant to sell it and bring him $200.
Another police informant met Watson the next day at a Pennsylvania Avenue residence in Westminster and left with more crack to sell, court records showed.
State police drug enforcement agents moved in and arrested Watson, confiscating 1.3 grams of crack cocaine.
James T. Nash Jr., 29, of Manchester Avenue was stopped in Westminster on a traffic warrant in April 1997. He was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and was later charged with possession of marijuana, which police found in the trunk of his car, court records show.
Nash pleaded not guilty to both charges but agreed not to contest the prosecutor's version of what happened. He was found guilty of possession of marijuana and sentenced to 60 days in the Carroll County Detention Center. He was given a year's probation for driving with a suspended license.
Nash's driving record showed a series of minor traffic violations since 1987. He frequently failed to appear for Motor Vehicle TTC Administration hearings or District Court trials, causing his license to be suspended.
Lorinda G. Smith, 40, of Westminster Pike was placed on three years' probation and ordered to undergo random drug testing and attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings after she was found guilty of possessing a controlled substance.
Court records show that Smith used a false name to represent herself as an employee of a medical practice and call two pharmacies with prescriptions for herself for butalbital, a sedative, between May 1995 and July 1997. She then picked up the orders.
Smith pleaded not guilty but agreed not to dispute the prosecutor's version of what happened.
