A man was killed and a woman critically injured yesterday when a fire swept through an upper Fells Point rowhouse, fire officials said.
They said the woman jumped from a second-floor window to escape the flames.
Investigators were seeking the cause of the fire, which destroyed the three-story rowhouse in the 1700 block of Gough St., but Battalion Chief Hector L. Torres said it did not appear to be of suspicious origin. He said the fire was reported at 7: 06 a.m. and extinguished about a half-hour later.
Torres identified the man as John Dobbs, who was in his late 20s. His body was found on the second floor.
Torres identified the other victim as Elizabeth Scanlon, 28, who suffered second-degree burns on 5 percent of her body and injuries from the fall. She was in critical condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center yesterday, he said.
Torres said the fire started on the second floor and that flames were coming through windows and the roof when firefighters arrived. A damage estimate was not available.
