The city of Westminster and the Greater Westminster Development Corp., the city's nonprofit business-community partner, held a reception yesterday to honor local businesses for their contributions to the community.
The awards and the recipients were:
New retail business award: Cecelia's Bridals.
New business award: Merrill Lynch.
New restaurant award: The Fat Cat Cafe.
Retail business expansion: Inspirations.
Expansion of service business: Barnes-Bollinger Insurance Services.
Project to expand existing business: Paradiso Italian Restaurant.
Commercial building redevelopment: Max Realty, Longwell Building; and A/E Group, Carroll Hall.
Community Development Award: Carroll County General Hospital.
Community Heritage Award: Westminster Volunteer Fire Department.
Community Relations Award: Westminster Police Department.
Business Leadership Award: Carroll County Bank & Trust Co.; Westminster Bank & Trust Co.; Union National Bank; Taneytown Bank and Trust Co.; Tevis Co. President Stanley H. Tevis III; and James H. Dulany IV, a Westminster real estate appraiser and former chairman of GWDC.
This is the third year the city and GWDC have recognized local businesses.
