The Freestate Happy Wanderers Walking Club, a nonprofit association dedicated to family sports, is planning several walks.
On May 23, the group will sponsor an 11-kilometer walk at High Point High School in Beltsville. First-time walkers and families can choose a six-kilometer trail. Walkers can begin between 8: 30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and finish by 4 p.m.
On June 27, an 11-kilometer walk, with a six-kilometer alternative route, will be held at the Savage Mill in Savage. Again, walkers can start between 8: 30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and finish by 4 p.m.
On July 3, participants will begin walking from the Centennial Lake West parking lot in Columbia. The alternative route there is five kilometers. The walk will begin between 7: 30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and finish by 2 p.m.
The club, which promotes recreation and exercise, also sponsors six walking trails in Cambridge, Glen Burnie, Laurel, Savage, Ocean City and Wheaton.
