Barnes to run again for state's attorney

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Carroll County State's Attorney Jerry F. Barnes filed for re-election yesterday at the county Board of Elections in Westminster.

The 49-year-old Westminster Republican is seeking his second four-year term.

He said his office's fiscal 1999 budget is less than the spending plan he inherited when he assumed office, while the level of services has increased with the implementation of a domestic violence unit and the computerized Victim Information and Notification Everyday pilot program. VINE gives crime victims quick access to changes in court or jail status of accused assailants.

Barnes is unopposed for the September primary.
