Stanwick leads NDP past Friends Junior records 5 goals, 4 assists in 15-5 victory; AIS playoff roundup


Junior Wick Stanwick scored a game-high five goals with four assists in leading second-ranked Notre Dame Prep to a 15-5 win yesterday over Friends in the opening round of the Association of Independent Schools A Division tournament.

Junior Lauren Aumiller and senior Molly Cangemi contributed three goals each for the Pirates (10-1), who play host to Garrison Forest at 4 p.m. today.

No. 3 St.Mary's 19, Seton Keough 3: Senior Kellie Thompson and junior Lindsay Ringle each had three goals to lead 13 Saints in the scoring column and give third-seeded St. Mary's (12-2) a home win over the sixth-seeded Gators in an A Division playoff.

St.Mary's will play at Severn at 4 p.m. today

Bryn Mawr 14, McDonogh 6: Kate Cole had four goals and an TTC assist and Tara Hardiman had three goals and two assists as the host Mawrtians (10-3) won its A Division playoff. Bryn Mawr plays at St. Paul's at 4 p.m. today.

John Carroll 7, Mount de Sales 6: Senior Meredeth Gunning paced John Carroll with two goals and eight interceptions and senior goalkeeper Brooke Barrett had six of her 12 saves in the second half as the Patriots (5-6-2) held off the Sailors in an A Division contest.

John Carroll will play at Roland Park at 4 p.m. today.

Garrison Forest 17, Maryvale 9: Cantey Boyd had six goals and Melissa Riggs chipped in four goals and five assists as the Grizzlies (6-5-1) advanced in the AIS A Division tournament. Garrison Forest plays at Notre Dame Prep at 4 p.m. today.

Oldfields 14, St. Timothy's 8: Ashley Vizzi and Jenny Winter each had three goals as Oldfields (5-8) won a first-round game of the AIS B Division tournament. Oldfields plays at Mercy at 4 p.m. today.

Glenelg Country 13, Towson Catholic 10: Junior Rachel Baron scored a team-record 11 goals, including the go-ahead goal that broke a 10-10 tie, as the fourth-seeded Dragons (3-7) won its B Division playoff.

Glenelg Country plays at Spalding at 6 p.m. today.


Notre Dame Prep 19, Friends 2: Emily Lessner had three hits and two runs batted in as the host Pirates (8-3) blasted the Quakers in a semifinal game of the AIS A Division tournament.

Bryn Mawr 15, Lutheran 0: Melanie Sperl allowed two hits and struck out four over five innings as the Mawrtians (11-2) advanced to the finals of the AIS A Division tournament. Kristen Brooks' three-run double was a part of a eight-run first for Bryn Mawr.

Oldfields 13, Beth Tfiloh 7: Oldfields scored eight runs on two errors and six walks on the way to victory in the semifinals of the AIS B Division tournament.
