Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore and Baltimore County.

Western District

Girl shot: Two 14-year-old girls were examining a handgun, which they believed was a BB gun, in the bedroom of a three-story rowhouse in the 1600 block of W. Mulberry St. when it discharged about 12: 20 p.m. yesterday, sending a bullet into the back of one of them. After the shooting, the girl who was handling the gun, who also lived in the house, ran outside and told people what had occurred. Before police and an ambulance arrived, someone entered the bedroom and removed the gun, a .25-caliber semiautomatic pistol. Police assigned to the violent-crimes task force said the wounded girl was in serious condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. They said the shooting appeared to be an accident but will be reviewed by the FTC state's attorney's office.

Central District

Shooting: A 20-year-old woman was using a pay telephone in the 1300 block of Argyle Ave. about 3 p.m. yesterday when a bullet fired by one of two gunmen shooting at each other grazed her in the left side. The gunmen escaped. The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Northeastern District

Shooting: A gunman fired into a crowd standing in the 5600 block of Lothian Road about 5 p.m. yesterday, hitting one man in the chest. The wounded man was treated at Sinai Hospital. No arrest had been made.

Northwestern District

Burglary: Property valued at $200 was stolen from a house in the 5600 block of Belle Ave. on Saturday by someone who entered through a rear window.

Eastern District

Burglary/arrest: Police were in the 2300 block of Sherwood Ave. on Saturday when they saw a couple enter a nearby vacant house. Police entered the dwelling and arrested the couple, who were charged with fourth-degree burglary.

Assault: A man was in the 1900 block of E. Chase St. about 5 p.m. Saturday when a teen-ager attempted to stab him with a knife. The youth was arrested and was being held at the juvenile detention facility at the Northern District.

Northern District

Theft from vehicle: Stereo equipment valued at $300 was stolen Saturday from a 1997 Volkswagen parked in the first block of E. 29th St.

Theft from vehicle: Someone entered a 1995 Jeep parked in the 100 block of E. 29th St. on Saturday after breaking a window and stole a cellular phone, a cellular phone battery charger, compact discs and cash, all valued at nearly $600.

Baltimore County

Garrison Precinct

Burglary: Police responding to a burglary in the 9400 block of Lencrest Road Saturday entered the house and found a 14-year-old girl sitting on a bed holding a BB pistol. The girl was charged with burglary and released to her parents. Entry had been gained through a rear sliding door.

Burglary/arrest: After the residents of a house in the 500 block of Alter St. left Friday, a 15-year-old boy they know entered through the front door and stole a radio and tobacco pipe. The suspect was arrested, and the property was recovered. The youth was charged with burglary and released to his parents.

Robbery try: A 20-year-old man was in the 100 block of Chartley Drive about 11: 10 p.m. Friday when two men demanded his money and valuables at gunpoint. When the victim refused to comply, one of the men kicked him in the stomach before he and his accomplice drove off. The victim was not seriously injured.
