Blue Jays: Jose Canseco left in the seventh inning after fouling a ball off the inside of his left knee. He was examined after the game, diagnosed with a contusion and is listed as day-to-day.

Rangers: Bobby Witt had won nine consecutive April decisions since losing to Chicago on April 22, 1996. Will Clark has homered in four of his last eight games after hitting none in his previous 37.

Twins: Minnesota finished April with an 11-16 record, its 10th sub-.500 record for April in the last 11 years. They Twins have committed just four errors in their past 13 games, and yesterday turned three double plays.

Tigers: Tony Clark, just 2-for-23 (.087) in his previous six games, was dropped to sixth in the lineup. Detroit has hit 14 bases-empty homers, two with one on and one with two on.

Red Sox: Scott Hatteberg threw out three Angels trying to steal: Darin Erstad and Jim Edmonds in the first and Dave Hollins in the fourth. Mo Vaughn's two singles left him one short of 1,000 for his career.

Indians: Ben Grieve's homer was only the fourth allowed by Paul Assenmacher to a left-hander since August 1995.

Athletics: Their bullpen has allowed four earned runs in their last 11 games (31 2/3 innings, 1.14 ERA).
