Wade receives new titled at Taneytown Bank & Trust

Taneytown Bank & Trust Co. has announced that Joseph F. Wade Jr. has been named assistant vice president in the commercial real estate division.

He has been with the bank since May 1996. He is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University.

He coordinated the participation of four area banks recently to assure the success of the first Interfaith Housing of Western Maryland Project in Taneytown. Westminster Bank & Trust Co. has announced management changes.

John W. Byrne has been promoted to senior vice president and manager of the business development department. He has been a commercial lender with the bank for nine years.

Charles H. Devaud Jr. has been promoted to senior vice president and officer in charge of retail banking. He will be responsible for marketing/training, branch administration, operations, human resources and IRA administration.

Terry L. Hollinger has been promoted to vice president and manager of the consumer lending department and compliance officer. He has 15 years experience with the bank.

Other promotions include: William E. Jenne to vice president in the commercial business development department; and Lisa Watkins to assistant treasurer and corporate secretary. Long & Foster Realtors in Westminster has announced the creation of a new commercial real estate services department.

The team includes branch manager Bruce D-Anthony, Tom and Denise Hayes and Sally Mynes-Sweep.

The Westminster operation is part of the company's specialized commercial division formed in 1995 to target small- to medium-sized commercial properties.

The division focuses on handling sales in the $250,000 to $1.5 million range. The Bank of Maryland, a subsidiary of Mason-Dixon Bancshares, has signed an agreement to sell five branches on the Eastern Shore to Farmers Bank of Maryland and Atlantic Bank.

Farmers and Atlantic banks are subsidiaries of First Virginia Banks, headquartered in Falls Church, Va.

The branches being sold are in Bishopville, Salisbury, Princess Anne, Crisfield and Federalsburg.

The Eastern Shore banks are being sold to allow the bank to expand in the central Maryland area.

Mason-Dixon Bancshares is the parent company of Carroll County Bank & Trust and the Bank of Maryland.

Carroll County chamber plans membership luncheon

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce will have its monthly general membership luncheon at noon April 9 at Wakefield Valley Golf and Conference Center.

Career Connections, a community-based effort to reform education and prepare young people for their entry into the workplace, will be the topic.

Scott Manhoff, senior vice president of McShea & Company, and chairman of the Business/Education Committee, will discuss how the program works.
