Mother Teresa tribute album has a mission

There's none of the pomp and glitz that surrounded the tribute album to Princess Diana, but now Mother Teresa has her own musical memorial too.

Titled "Mother, We'll Miss You," the album, released yesterday, stars Jose Feliciano and a cast of mostly unknown acts from the Christian community.

"It's not an industry album. It's a heartfelt album," says Feliciano. "I think Mother Teresa would have wanted it this way. She never wanted to overshadow anybody."

The 18-song record is on the Nashville-based Lion Communications label. All royalties will go to Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity.

While it now serves as a memorial, the new disc was under way two months before Mother Teresa's death.

The leadoff track and expected single is Feliciano's "Santa Teresa (Mother of the Poor)," the first English-language song by this six-time Grammy winner in the last 10 years.

"I never knew Mother Teresa, but I admired her, especially in this day and age when there aren't many heroes," says Feliciano.
