Dick Scott, football center for the U.S. Naval Academy, was named to the 1947 Associated Press All-America second squad today. Art Markel, end, and Dick Shimshak, tackle, were given honorable mention. -- The Sun, Dec. 3, 1947.

The Anne Arundel County Board of Education has chosen a site opposite the Harundale development for the new elementary school in Glen Burnie. Harder and Dressell are architects for the 20-room schoolhouse equipped with a cafeteria. -- The Sun, Dec. 6, 1947.

Stephen W. Terry, Jr., 25, a student at St. John's College in Annapolis, has been selected with two others by the Rhodes Scholarship Committee for Maryland. Mr. Terry served in the Marines in the war. -- The Sun, Dec. 11, 1947.

With Harold E. Stassen, Republican presidential candidate, making the presentation, a bronze bust of Fleet Admiral William F. Halsey, Jr., was unveiled in ceremonies at the Naval Academy. -- The Sun, Dec. 15, 1947.
