Charlotte gained its fourth consecutive victory with a 89-82 win over the Indiana Pacers. A 105-96 win for Milwaukee gave Boston its fifth straight loss since opening the season with a victory over the Chicago Bulls. The Celtics committed 23 turnovers. The Phoenix Suns' Danny Manning needs 108 points to reach the 10,000 career mark.

Stats: Wesley Person scored his 3,000th career point in the first quarter of the Cleveland Cavaliers' 99-97 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Indiana's Rik Smits, who is in his 10th NBA season, scored the 10,000th point of his career on a jumper early in the first quarter of the Pacers' 89-82 loss to Charlotte.

Swift shutdown: First-year coach Larry Bird cut short his postgame news conference after about 90 seconds, frustrated by the Pacers' second consecutive loss and their third in four road games.

Sitting at the line: Utah and San Antonio combined for 81 fouls -- a franchise record 45 by the Spurs. Utah was just 19-of-58 from the floor and got 39 of its points at the free-throw line.
