Terps women gain ACC final


Keri Sarver scored the game-winner with less than seven minutes left yesterday as third-seeded Maryland (12-7-3) rallied from a 1-0 deficit to drop second-seeded Duke, 2-1, in an Atlantic Coast Conference women's soccer tournament semifinal in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Maryland (12-7-3) will face North Carolina at 3: 30 p.m. tomorrow.

Towson 2, Boston University 0: Christi Landi and Shelley Seivert scored as the third-seeded Tigers upset the second-seeded Terriers to advance to the America East final in Burlington, Vt.

Towson (14-5-1) will face top-seeded Hartford (17-1-1), the 11th-ranked team in the nation, for the conference title at noon tomorrow.

Monmouth 1, Mount St. Mary's 0: Kristen McDermott's goal in the 71st minute bumped the Mountaineers (4-12-2) from the Northeast Conference tournament semifinals in New Britain, Conn.


Loyola 2, Iona 0: Kevin Alvero and Christof Lindemayer scored second-half goals to lead the host Greyhounds (9-9-2) into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference final for the ninth consecutive year.

The eight-time defending champs will meet the Rider-Siena winner 2 p.m. tomorrow at Curley Field. The other semifinal was halted due to lightning yesterday and will resume 11 a.m. today with 10: 06 left and Rider leading, 1-0.
